Salakot Costume - a Filipino Traditional Costume

Salakot Costume for a lady is mostly worn like this. This Salakot Costume had been use in Luzon to entertain visitors and guests way back. The costume represents more of the "Salakot", the head piece that is worn by little MM here.

A simple and elegant costume for Filipino that has been taught by school educators to children to let them be aware of the past culture as we Filipinos have.

Below is the Full Video of the "Salakot Dance" accompanied by a rondalla music "Leron Leron Sinta'. MM was graceful enough to dance her heart out and enjoyed the dance despite of the sun's heat.

  10. It's good that kids get the chance to learn about our Filipino folk dances. My kids had their share of this, too, last month.

  11. I love it when my kid is exposed to Filipino culture through events like this. Minsan kasi parang natatakot na ako sa technolog, nawawala yung mga nakagisnan natin dahil sa kanila kaya all out support talaga ako sa mga ganitong events. :-) You're daughter is so cute by the way.
